If luxury, sophistication, and a true Mediterranean ambiance is what you are looking for then you should consider a wedding at Belmond La Residencia in Mallorca — one of my favorite wedding venues in Mallorca.
Gracefully located amidst the Tramuntana mountains, Belmond La Residencia is a sanctuary with a quiet luxury that is impossible to replicate elsewhere.
Beyond the typical Mallorcan architecture and the fragrant Mediterranean gardens, the breathtaking views are what truly help create the magical atmosphere you find at the hotel. As you wander through its serene courtyards and secret corners, you'll discover a place that is infused with romance and elegance.
Belmond La Residencia is more than just a wedding venue; it is an enchanting escape that transforms your special day into an unforgettable celebration. This idyllic venue is renowned not only for its natural beauty but also for its unrivaled elegance and charm. The venue's ambiance, infused with romance and sophistication, creates the perfect setting for a wedding that is magical and memorable.
Belmond La Residencia is located in the quaint and curious village of Deià on the northwest coast of Mallorca. This small mountain refuge not only has a long history of attracting artists, writers, and other creative types but it is still a modern-day refuge for celebrities and royals. With impressive views, enjoyable hikes, and lovely wandering streets, even the most discerning traveler will find Deià a pleasurable place to visit.
In terms of accessibility, the hotel is a mere 45 minutes from the airport in Palma, making it an easy trip for you and your guests.
Belmond La Residencia is more than just a wedding venue; it is a living testament to centuries of history and timeless elegance. This enchanting retreat, which was originally two 16th and 17th-century manor houses, has been lovingly restored to its former glory while seamlessly blending with modern luxuries and high-end details. Another fun fact? It was previously owned by Richard Branson.
The history of Belmond La Residencia is woven into every detail of the hotel, from the ancient olive trees that grace its grounds to the traditional Mallorcan architecture that has been preserved with meticulous care. And this intricacy and grace will naturally seep its way into your wedding at this charming venue.
Over the years, Belmond La Residencia has hosted illustrious guests, from renowned artists and celebrities to royals, they are all drawn to its serene beauty and historical significance.
What to expect
Belmond La Residencia is the epitome of timeless elegance and understated luxury. This exclusive property is a five-star hotel with extraordinary character, perfect for couples seeking an unforgettable wedding experience surrounded by nature, art and history.
Belmond La Residencia embraces the area’s artistic history and offers an art gallery, a poet walk that pays homage to writers with a connection to the area, and art tours — truly bringing a personal and unique experience to your stay.
The views and the gardens are another part of the experience that sets it apart from other locations on the island. The hotel is built on several levels so the views are constantly changing as you move throughout the property. To accommodate this unique experience, the hotel offers multiple terraces from which you can enjoy these awe-inspiring views.
And I can’t forget to mention the ancient olive grove that is home to the hotel's adorable donkeys. It really couldn't get any more perfect.
the
The hotel boasts 70 rooms and suites, plus 1 villa. It houses a world-class spa, indoor and outdoor pools, fabulous dining options, like El Olivo with it's famous terrace, complimentary transportation to Deià, tennis courts, and a kids' activity center.
The rooms at the La Residencia have a traditional Mallorcan flare with their neutral walls and dark wood furnishings (many of which are Mallorcan antiques). The design is tasteful and simple.
Outside, the grounds are alive with olive trees, blooming bougainvillea, flourishing roses, and ornamental palms. The effect is stunningly serene and down-to-earth, colorful yet classic.
When you are hosting a wedding here, you have the option to buy out the entire hotel, giving all of your guests the option to stay at this fabulous property.
When you plan a destination wedding, you want to keep your guests and their experience in mind. Hosting a wedding at Belmond La Residencia is a sure way to enhance and magnify their experience during your festivities.
Not only does the hotel have unique offers that are unlike other accommodations (such as the art and literary tours) but the hotel also has sunset sails during the summer, art classes, donkey trails, vespa tours, and so much more.
The hotel also offers transportation and water taxis, including ones to Cala Deià where you can easily spend days exploring, dining, and soaking in the inspiration from this magical area.
Whether you envision a grand celebration or an intimate gathering, Belmond La Residencia offers a variety of exquisite spaces to bring your vision to life. Every detail is crafted to perfection, ensuring your wedding day is nothing short of extraordinary.
The hotel can host anything from intimate elopements and micro-weddings to larger weddings of up to 120 people and does offer some indoor options in case of uncooperative weather.
Ceremonies are always a stunning affair at Belmond La Residencia. Ceremonies are held outside, at several locations around the property. Lush with olive trees, colorful florals, and towering palm trees, the flora and fauna at Belmond La Residencia are impressive. Likewise, you can’t find more memorable mountain views on the island.
There are two main areas where weddings are held. The stunning gardens at the front of the hotel and the Mirador — a romantic terrace with beautiful views of the distant ocean.
The gardens at the front of the hotel can hold up to 120 guests and offer a respite from the heat with a shaded space in the late afternoon. The Mirador can accommodate 80 people for a ceremony.
create a unique experience
For cocktail hour there are two options on site.
The poolside terrace, with its stunning mountain views is popular and can accommodate up to 100 people.
The front garden is a lovely terrace that can hold up to 120 people for a stunning cocktail. Overlooking the mountains and countryside, this area is popular for cocktail hours and welcome parties.
Enjoy not only the fabulous setting of Belmond La Residencia but also the exquisite cuisine that its restaurants offer for your reception. With local fare and unique culinary offerings, every reception at the hotel is a true experience for the taste buds. The food is truly divine.
Most receptions are held on the terrace of El Olivio, which holds up to 120 people. The restaurant, which is housed in a medieval olive mill, opens to a stunning terrace that is framed by olive trees and surrounded by natural stone. It feels secluded, romantic, and highly intimate. With postcard-like views and a magical ambiance, this space is the most popular one on site.
Getting ready for your wedding is a true experience at Belmond La Residencia. With large windows, classic furnishings, and world-class services, you’ll have a wonderfully relaxing time before the ceremony starts. You can even schedule a spa visit in the morning to really get the day started off right.
The Matthew Williams Suite is a favorite of mine with its colorful walls, traditional tiles, beautiful exterior and the typical green shutters. The light is always perfect.
A close second is the Miró Suite. Dedicated to Joan Miró, Mallorca’s most famous resident, this suite is relaxing and inviting. The stunning views and natural light make it a great place to get ready and take photographs. It also offers a large private pool.
If you prefer a traditional church wedding with a lively reception at the hotel afterward, you can always consider the Church of Sant Joan Baptista in Deià. Originally built in the 14th century, this parish church is located on a high hill and has stunning views of the region. Not only is it a beautiful ceremony site but the experience is made even more special when you and your guests have a small parade — usually with a band leading the way — back to the hotel.
In my opinion one of the most romantic experiences during a wedding at Belmond la Residencia is the first dance on the El Olivo terrace. Imagine dancing to your song, surrounded by twinkling fairy lights, in a place where time feels like it's standing still. It doesn't get better than this.
Just a note, all outside music must end at 11 pm on the island. Luckily, you can move the party inside to continue until midnight!
There are lots of options, including the front garden or pool side terrace at Belmond. If you are looking for something different, I recommend that my couples look at Ca’s Patró March, the indisputable favorite for welcome parties in Deià.
This traditional Mallorcan restaurant sits on rocks on the edge of the Mediterranean and is charmingly rustic. The fare is fresh, simple, and definitely delicious. You can walk from the village (about 30 minutes), take cars, or even take a boat to the restaurant if you are coming from Port de Soller.

Belmond La Residencia
From the charming olive groves to the romantic gardens and terraces, every corner of this venue offers an absolutely perfect backdrop for your wedding portraits. Once golden hour hits, the entire canvas is painted with the most gorgeous golden reflections. It leaves me breathless every time.
My favorite place for group portraits is in the front garden. It’s easily accessible for guests, since that is usually where cocktail hour is held, and is shaded, which is necessary for group portraits. The Mediterranean flora and mountain backdrop add lovely color and texture to the group photos.
Photographing at Belmond La Residencia is something I truly never tire of. There is a seemingly endless amount of options in this gorgeous space.
I always make sure to take my couples to the Poet’s Walk for portraits after the wedding. This enchanting walk is full of beauty and magic, especially during the golden hour. I even have a secret spot close to the Poet’s Walk that offers the most stunning views of Deià.
Another location that I always make time for is a small path enroute to El Olivo. This special walkway is framed by white roses and exudes romance and a classic vibe. And, of course, we won’t miss the iconic views from the El Olivo terrace.
As you envision the perfect setting for your once-in-a-lifetime celebration, Belmond La Residencia emerges as a tableau of elegance and romance. From its luxurious suites and breathtaking ceremony locations to the lush gardens and exceptional service, every detail is designed to create an unforgettable experience — which is exactly what you would want for your destination wedding.

At home near the sea, picking oranges in the garden, always exploring and celebrating those moments that leave me in awe.
I am a German-American but Mallorca is where my heart is the happiest. I live on this beautiful island with my tattoo artist husband and our son Indy who we named after the great adventurer.
When we got married almost 19 years ago I knew I found my soulmate. I moved from Germany to Texas for him and now we live on a Spanish island. This place is an endless well of inspiration for me, so beautiful and magical it's hard to describe.
I love a day that starts with snuggles, sunshine and a cup of coffee - team decaf here! And even better when the day ends with friends and family gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories and a homemade meal.
